Salted Duck Eggs
Salted Duck Eggs are a preserved delicacy created through the process of immersing duck eggs in brine or encasing each egg in moistened salted charcoal. It is a favourite food of many Malaysians since childhood, and eating it will help some overseas Malaysians relive moments of nostalgia. It is frequently eaten in piping hot steamed rice, in congee, and as a side dish in iconic traditional Malay foods such as ‘Nasi Kerabu’.
Lai Hin Trading’s Salted Duck Egg is officially certified halal by the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (JAKIM) and is widely enjoyed at ‘Nasi Campur’ and ‘Nasi Kandar’ food stalls nationwide. Our salted eggs are frequently served alongside congee for breakfast or supper at hotels. The egg white has a distinctively sharp and salty flavour while the orange-red yolk is rich, fatty and less salty. This prized yolk variety remains highly sought-after for Chinese mooncakes.
